- ARNOS VALE CEMETERY
- SAT 17 OCT
- 1.20PM
Photographic artist Michel Campeau leads a tour of Darkroom, on display at Arnos Vale Cemetery’s Anglican Chapel Crypt.
The Anglican Chapel Crypt is used to store tools and objects relating to the burial process, and connections are drawn as Michel’s images of darkroom apparatus sit alongside these other out-of-sight tools of labour.
Michel’s photographs show darkroom spaces as haphazard or obsolete in the face of digital technologies, whilst also revealing them as personal, human environments marked by improvised adaptations and DIY interventions giving them a fragile, idiosyncratic presence.
Join both Michel and Isaac Blease, curator of the accompanying MPF exhibition Dark Tales: British Documentary Photography and the Gothic, as they share an insight into his work and this unique and immersive display.
Martin Parr Foundation and Arnos Vale Cemetery have collaborated to produce the show to accompany the MPF exhibition, Dark Tales, with both exhibitions part of Bristol Photo Festival’s 2026 programme.
