SAT 16:30 to 17:30 – Janine Wiedel in association with BJP & Bluecoat Press

BOP partners with BJP and Bluecoat Press for an artist talk with Janine Wiedel. Janine will discuss her newest photobook, Vulcan’s Forge, which presents Janine’s documentation of West Midlands industry in the 1970s. This was a critical turning point in Britain’s industrial history, as the coal mines, steel mills, chain workshops, drop forges and many more workplaces were soon to disappear. 

The talk will include a short screening of an ATV documentary from 1977, which captures the time Janine set off in her campervan/darkroom on the two year project that would become Vulcan’s Forge.  

Janine will discuss the project as a whole before touching on the making of the book with Bluecoat Press 45 years on.
